SOLACE Summit: Devolve 'critical' powers for inclusive growth

Local government needs greater powers over education and funding if regions are to deliver inclusive growth, experts have said.

Speaking at the Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE) Summit in Gateshead, director of enterprise and skills at Oldham MBC, Tom Stannard, said devolution of support including Education Funding Agency money and regulation over schooling would help councils support people into work and raise local skills.
