Scottish ministers hit out at UK austerity

Scottish ministers have blamed UK austerity measures for the financial difficulties facing councils north of the border.

In response to criticisms that the Scottish budget will hit ‘vulnerable communities the hardest,’ cabinet secretary for communities and local government, Aileen Campbell, insisted last week the SNP had tried to treat councils ‘fairly’.
