Scrutiny's paying off in Peterborough

Tackling the impact of welfare reform is a massive challenge but to take it on in just one day was hailed as a ‘brave and innovative’ move by Peterborough City Council.

The authority brought all five of its scrutiny committees together for Scrutiny in a Day and also invited outside agencies to take part.

The event took a close look at the issues being faced by residents in light of changes to the benefits system and used a variety of methods to inform, engage and inspire.
