Stockport MBC’s deputy chief executive Caroline Simpson is expected to be promoted to the top role.
Ms Simpson, who previously worked at Cheshire East Council, has been recommended after a ‘rigorous selection process’ to replace outgoing chief executive Pam Smith, who was confirmed as the new boss of Newcastle City Council earlier this year.
