Birmingham City Council has, it would seem, finally found a solution to its long-running search for a chief executive – albeit another interim solution for the time being.

Last week, Europe’s largest council announced it was hiring Deborah Cadman, chief executive of the West Midlands Combined Authority – the woman sector insiders have long-since tipped as one of the best bets to take on the turbulent Birmingham post.
