Spending Review to decide bonus future

The future of the New Homes Bonus rests on next year’s departmental spending review, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has confirmed.

Senior MHCLG officials have privately suggested that councils should not rely on the bonus, sparking doubts as to whether it will continue beyond 2019/20.
