Stalemate over audit timeliness

The organisation responsible for appointing local government auditors has admitted it can do little to improve the timeliness of opinions.

Paul Dossett, a partner at Grant Thornton, previously predicted that as many as half of councils may miss this year’s September 30 audit deadline.
