Sunderland plans HQ move to boost town centre

Plans to move Sunderland City Council’s civic offices in a bid to boost the town centre have been backed by the council’s cabinet.

Members have approved the business case for the move as part of a £500m investment programme over the next 15 years.

Two new office blocks will be built in the town centre, with the current civic centre to be developed for housing,
