What next for local government?
Throughout my 35 years at Ipsos, public attitudes to the sector have waxed and waned, but overall public ratings of local councils have remained more positive than those of Whitehall. In the last decade they have fallen from 72% to 64% satisfied and the per cent who feel they act on local concerns has fallen from 62% to 57%.
