Engaging with the public to gauge local priorities, Newham LBC’s first permanent Citizens’ Assembly saw members get to grips with the issues and offering practical recommendations and a good steer about what really matters. Heather Jameson reports.

‘Where is Alex?' It is one of the first questions on the final day of the Newham's Citizen's Assembly.

Alex is not on Zoom for the last session, but the eagerness of the group to ask after the former facilitator shows the surprising level of warmth and rapport that has built up over the weeks.
