PLANNING

The planning system needs more resources to thrive

It isn’t so much the planning system that is broken – more the housing delivery system, says Cllr Sam Chapman-Allen. ‘And the Government appears to be coming round to our way of thinking.’

We are pleased the Government has listened to the voices of the District Councils' Network (DCN) and others to remove binding housebuilding targets.

It is local communities who know the needs of their area best and it should be their local democratic representatives who take the decisions that balance building desperately needed new homes with protecting local environments and the unique characters of individual places.
