The risks of Sunak’s freeports

For the local winners in the race to become one of Rishi Sunak’s 10 freeports, there will have been much celebration in grasping an early opportunity in Britain’s post-Brexit world.

The chancellor’s freeports policy is set to be a key part of the Government’s levelling up agenda, aiming to breathe new economic life into parts of the country largely forgotten by Westminster.
