Tory leadership candidates pitch to councillors

Upper tier councils apparently left ‘with a smile on their faces’ after the two remaining candidates vying to replace Boris Johnson set out their stall to Conservative councillors.

In the opening members’ hustings session of the Tory leadership election, Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss pitched their agendas to around 300 of the party’s councillors at the Local Government Association (LGA) headquarters in London.
