The Treasury is facing pressure to reassure English councils that funding to help reduce the spread of coronavirus will be renewed beyond March.
Sector figures are worried that the contain outbreak management fund (COMF) runs out at the end of the current financial year, meaning many local contract tracing teams are staffed by people on fixed-term contracts who have no long-term security in their role.
