Ukip to field 'record' number of council candidates

Ukip will mobilise a record 5,000 candidates in 278 local council elections next month, leader Nigel Farage has announced.

In an interview with a national newspaper, Mr Farage said he was delighted with the size of the self-style ‘people’s army’, which will be the backbone of Ukip’s organising structure for future elections.
