Using data to face the poverty crisis head-on

The Government’s latest official poverty figures released on 31 March show that poverty fell in the first year of the pandemic.

Yet these statistics have not kept up with the reality many households are now facing and are therefore of limited use to local authorities trying to understand where to target new discretionary support.
