Yorkshire council in shortage warning

North Yorkshire CC has warned it faces dramatic adult social care staff shortages.

North Yorkshire CC has warned it faces dramatic adult social care staff shortages.

The council's director of health and adult services, Richard Webb, said there were 70% fewer applications for care roles than a few months ago.

He said: ‘On any given day across the county there are at least 1,000 jobs available.

‘Never has the need for people to work in care been so great yet we are receiving 70% fewer applications now then we were only a few months ago.'

He continued: ‘Our current staffing shortages are set to increase as potentially we will lose 400 to 500 care workers who are choosing not to be vaccinated by the Government deadline and therefore will be unable to work in the sector after November 11.'
