Government envoys will oversee the management of Tower Hamlets LBC after inspectors found a ‘toxic’ political environment was stopping the council ‘moving forward’.

Government envoys are expected to oversee the management of Tower Hamlets LBC after inspectors found a ‘toxic' political environment was stopping the council ‘moving forward'.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) said an envoy and assistant envoy would ‘work intensively with the authority' and be allowed unfettered access to council premises, documents and staff.
