The best senior managers are tremendous hypocrites

If as a manager you have a clear coherent philosophy and a set of values you stick to then you will be much admired, but your success may be limited, says Blair Mcpherson.

Pragmatic in what they do, whilst idealistic in what they preach. Able to be an inclusive empowering, innovative manager in one environment,  a gritty realist willing to do whatever it takes in another. Or is it that with greater experience the desire to experiment is replaced by the need for results?

And so the tried and tested is favoured over something different and unproven.
