More than 100,000 public sector jobs could be lost over the next year as employers struggle to find the money for pay rises, according to research by the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) think-tank.

More than 100,000 public sector jobs could be lost over the next year as employers struggle to find the money for pay rises, according to research by the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) think-tank.

The IFS said even pay awards of 5% for public sector workers still represent a 5% real terms pay cut with inflation at 10%.
