Angela Rayner has just become one of the most powerful women in the country, thanks to the Labour landslide victory in the General Election, and she is heading up the department with responsibility for local government. So what now?

It is entirely unsurprising that comparisons between Rayner and John Prescott abound. From her streetfighter reputation and union background, to taking on the housing and local government brief as deputy prime minister, her story mimics her Blair era predecessor perfectly.
