Some 90 per cent of all tenancy fraud in council homes goes undetected, according to a new report.

A study by the Callcredit Information Group, entitled Shutting the Door on Tenancy Fraud, claims nearly three-quarters of all local authorities did not uncover a single case of housing fraud in 2011 – despite the fact that it costs an estimated £1bn a year.
