Last week, at the AGM of the Association of County Chief Executives (ACCE), it was my privilege to be nominated by my colleagues to succeed Anthony May as chair for the next two years.
It has been a year like no other, but ably led by Anthony, my fellow chief executives have built up a closer relationship with the Government and civil servants, forged on mutual respect.
