Calm after the Carillion storm

The collapse of Carillion sent shockwaves through the industry and threw the future of outsourcing in jeopardy. Not only did it herald the end of the rotten risk-taking culture that saw Carillion bid aggressively low for contracts leaving no room for manoeuvre, it also highlighted the importance of taking a holistic approach to procurement and treating the supply chain ethically.

At the time of the collapse, the outsourcing giant held 420 public sector contracts, employed 3,000 people and owed 30,000 suppliers an established £1.2bn.
