Council to furlough 300 staff

Chelmsford City Council is to furlough hundreds of culture and leisure services employees as coronavirus takes its toll on the authority’s finances.

Most of the 300 affected staff are from leisure services, theatres, events, museums or car parks, all of which have been closed since lockdown measures were imposed in March.
