Councils mull raids on reserves and job cuts

Gateshead MBC is considering cutting up to 155 jobs as it attempts to close a £18.6m budget gap next year.

The council warned service cuts are inevitable, as officers concluded in a report to members: ‘We can no longer afford to do everything for all residents’.
