Croydon faces 20% overspend

Croydon LBC is facing an overspend of more than £60m – one fifth of its budgeted expenditure – at the end of the financial year.

The council has introduced restrictions on all non-essential spending and implemented a recruitment freeze in a bid to balance the books despite the pressures resulting from the coronavirus pandemic.
