Those present at the Solace Summit in Birmingham relayed a sense of remarkable resilience in the face of adversity, says Graeme McDonald. 'But that is not to say we should be complacent.'

With inflation increasing and public finances under pressure at a time of rising demand and increased complexity it seems there will be no let up for local government anytime soon.

The mood music at Solace Summit last week was mixed, with our members mindful of the impact of compounding crises and challenges on councils, their workforces, and the communities they serve. But those present in Birmingham also relayed a sense of remarkable resilience in the face of adversity.
