Gwynne steps down citing 'torturous' national role

Shadow communities secretary Andrew Gwynne has resigned from his post as the new Labour leader Keir Starmer unveils his shadow cabinet.

Shadow communities secretary Andrew Gwynne has resigned from his post as the new Labour leader Keir Starmer unveils his shadow cabinet.

In a resignation letter posted on Twitter, Mr Gwynne said he had supported Mr Starmer in his bid to become leader, but described his time on the front benches as a ‘mixed bag'.
