HMJ: Report warns of a ‘post-pandemic bereavement crisis’

Bereaved people are struggling to access support due to long waiting lists and ineligibility for services, new research has found.The survey, carried out by Cardiff University’s Marie Curie Palliative Care Research Centre and the University of Bristol, found three-quarters of bereaved people with high or severe vulnerability were not accessing formal services.

Of those trying to access support, the survey found 40% had difficulties including long waiting lists, a lack of appropriate support and ineligibility for services.
