News that the Local Government Association (LGA) has awarded pay rises – albeit relatively small sums – to its senior staff while the rest of local government faces a freeze has been greeted with a bit of ire within the senior officer ranks.
No one would argue that the LGA staff rises were not deserved – it is just they would be equally well-deserved across local government but the association is caught between a rock and a hard place.
