Income gap widest in deprived areas

The most deprived council areas in the country are among those with the greatest income gaps, according to new official figures.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has found the local authority areas with the biggest disparity between their wealthiest and poorest neighbourhoods are classed as ‘more deprived’ overall.
