Local government employment down 2%

Local government employment has fallen by 2% over the last year, new figures have shown.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said figures fell by 44,000 between December 2017 and December 2018, when local government employment was 2m – 900,000 lowers than 10 years ago.
