New finance watchdog to take on local audit

The new regulator set up to oversee private sector audit is to be expanded to include local government, minister Luke Hall has announced.

The Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority (ARGA), which is being set up to replace the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), will have new powers over local government audit.
