Newham fined over gangs data breach

A fine of £145,000 has been imposed on Newham LBC after information about gang members fell into the hands of criminals.

Information relating to more than 200 people, including home addresses, alleged gang allegiances and whether they were known to carry firearms or knives, featured on the Met Police intelligence database known as the Gangs Matrix.
