Opinions are essential for senior managers

The definition of ‘opinionated’ is to offer your option whether or not it is requested or
to be in the habit of saying what people don’t want to hear.

But as a senior manager you don’t have the luxury of having a personal opinion.  The official view is your view therefore as far as the audience is concerned your view is the official view. It causes confusion if a senior manager goes off script. It could also be considered dissent and if you were a serial offender even disloyalty to the leadership.
