‘Sweeping reform’ of elections required

Election officers have warned of an electoral system that is in 'danger of failing’.

In a blueprint for electoral reform, the Association of Electoral Administrators (AEA) called for a funding review, extended deadlines and simplification of legislation.

The AEA said ‘piecemeal’ election laws should be replaced with single Electoral Administration Act that would be simpler to understand.
