If you work in local authority revenues at the moment, you’ll be painfully aware of the task ahead: provide a Council Tax rebate to all households in bands A-D, provide a discretionary scheme for Bands E-H, and (somehow) get the bank details of everyone who doesn’t pay by direct debit. Oh, and do it by April. Yes, we mean this April.

Of course you will have full guidance from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), but not straight away, where’s the fun in that?
