Whitty warns of tough times ahead

The life-changing effects of COVID-19 will continue to be felt for many months to come, Professor Chris Whitty has warned.

Prof Whitty, the chief medical advisor to the Government, told the Local Government Association conference this afternoon that the NHS was facing a ‘difficult’ winter and only after spring next year would the disease settle into a ‘more predictable’ pattern.
