The British Association of Social Workers (BASW) has called for the statutory regulation of all care staff, following last week's report into the Winterbourne View Hospital.

The serious care review by South Gloucestershire's adult safeguarding board followed an investigation by the BBC's Panorama programme into the abuse of adults with learning difficulties at the hospital, which has subsequently been shut down.
