Government plans to turn all schools into academies have come under fresh fire, with council leaders calling for powers to increase classroom sizes.

Government plans to turn all schools into academies have come under fresh fire, with council leaders calling for powers to increase classroom sizes.

On the day 500,000 children are offered a place at primary school, the Local Government Association (LGA) warned councils will have no powers to make academies and free schools increase capacity once they are out of local authority control.
