Addressing asylum

Paul Marinko looks at the outlook for asylum accommodation and finds that, despite complex challenges, the next few years could bring progress in the context of an improved relationship with government

Ministers are believed to be considering passing the responsibility for asylum accommodation back to councils, as a break clause in the Government's contract with the three companies currently discharging the duty approaches in April.

While the complexity and size of the responsibility have ballooned in the years since it last rested with local government, some are supportive of the move.
