How to make adoption work

The Government’s plans to merge adoption services across the UK is admirable but, Alison O’ Sullivan argues, there is still much to do

I recently joined the children's minister, Edward Timpson, on Radio 4's Today programme where he announced the Government's plans to merge adoption services across England within two years.

I expressed my support for the direction of travel which seeks to bring together small adoption agencies in a way which will create the most effective arrangements for securing adoptive families for the children who need them. The key will be locally bespoke design of those arrangements which must be right for each local area.
