Intelligent automation will revolutionalise local government and innovative councils are already using it to save time and money, speed up service delivery and allow staff to focus on delivering more meaningful work, says Phil Sheen

Much has been written about the potential impact of automation and AI within public services. According to the Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR), automation could save councils up to £6bn a year in social care, alongside up to £12.5bn a year within the NHS. The recent Darzi Review of Health and Care called on public services bodies to ‘embrace full automation to release time to care' as part of a 10 point plan to future-proof health and care services in the UK.
