Health secretary Andrew Lansley has withdrawn a controversial ‘NHS privatisation tax' from his flagship Health and Social Care Bill.

The latest amendments to the Bill include the withdrawal of a plan to allow private companies to be paid more than NHS hospitals for delivering the same services.
