Sheffield City Council has announced its preferred bidder for a £2bn highways maintenance programme.

Sheffield City Council has announced its preferred bidder for a £2bn highways maintenance programme expected to create up to 170 jobs across the city.

Leading public services provider Amey will take responsibility for improving and maintaining a range of transport assets under the 25-year contract, which includes an initial five-year renovation programme involving Sheffield's highways infrastructure.
