New anti-social behaviour powers planned for councils

Councils could be given powers to ‘crack down on repeated anti-social behaviour’ through so-called respect orders, home secretary Yvette Cooper has said.

Councils could be given powers to ‘crack down on repeated anti-social behaviour' through so-called respect orders, home secretary Yvette Cooper has said.

Local authorities would be handed powers to ban persistent offenders from town centres or from drinking in public places such as high streets and parks in a move similar to anti-social behaviour orders, which were previously in force in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and are still used in Scotland.
