With just two weeks to go until the election, Boris Johnson pledged in his manifesto that his Government would not raise income tax, national insurance or VAT. There's a promise to raise the national insurance threshold to £9,500 next year.

A week earlier he was telling high earners his promised tax breaks would have to wait and his ‘ultimate ambition' is to raise the threshold for national insurance payments to £12,500.
