Council officials have come under fire following a proposed redesign of Skegness' iconic Jolly Fisherman.

Council officials have come under fire following a proposed redesign of Skegness' iconic Jolly Fisherman – the mascot which has greeted visitors to the town for more than a century.

Senior staff at Lincolnshire CC have become concerned that children could injure themselves by swinging from the current statue's outstretched arms, and a proposed redesign has suggested a pose with the fisherman's arms clamped by his sides.
