Auditor calls city's accounts into question

A district auditor has refused to sign off accounts for ~Carlisle City Council~ after uncovering a catalogue of financial errors.

Auditor, Fiona Daley, has called on the authority to improve its financial controls, and gave the council one month to respond to her report. The report states that financial stewardship needs to be improved so ‘the council can prepare financial statements which are free from material error'.
